Day 1
Lizard Island – Arrive in Australia for the Scenery of Tropical Queensland
Your flight will land at Cairns Airport, located near Australia’s eastern seaboard. Restaurants open up along the Esplanade to frame the coastline to the marina as yachts, fishing boats, and sailboats wade in the quiet wake of the Pacific Ocean and beckon you. But before you take it all in, you will board your scenic flight from the Cairns Airport to Lizard Island, located nearly 150 miles north of the city, and 16 miles off the coast.
Your pilot will point to the crystalline turquoise water below and the coral reef will add an extra layer of luster to the expansive ocean as its visible body stretches as far as the eye can see beneath the seemingly motionless water. Your flight will land on Lizard Island, part of the Lizard Island National Park which encompasses more than 2,500 acres of protected area. Your resort edges the powder-white sand of numerous beaches, and the sweet and briny scent of the sea will drift upwards from the water. Tropical plants grow outside of your elegant suite where the two of you have found a secluded paradise with the beauty of the land and sea on your doorstep.

Whether newlyweds or renewing vows, celebrating an anniversary or just in the mood to enjoy each other’s company, you will discover the pleasures of white sand beaches and harbor cruises, nature walks and fine dining set in the diverse scenery of tropical Queensland, the Red Desert, and coastline of New South Wales. Your journey will begin with your arrival in Cairns, and then you will continue by scenic flight off of Australia’s northeastern coast to Lizard Island. A representative from the resort will meet you at the airstrip and help you to settle into your luxurious accommodations on the secluded island, located inside a spectacular national park.
The remainder of the day will allow you both to explore the resort and take in your beautiful surroundings. Wake the next morning to board a catamaran to sail around the collection of islands. In the evening, you can dine underneath the stars at a private table situated on the shoreline for a memorable, romantic, candlelit meal. The next day, you will board a yacht to travel along the Great Barrier Reef to visit a number of dive sites located on both the Inner and Outer Reef. Snorkel or scuba dive to explore the delicate ecosystem beneath the sea, and then relax with a day at your leisure the next day to take advantage of the island excursions and activities at your preferred pace. Sunbathe on the beach or partake in a couple’s massage with masseurs specializing in an Aboriginal technique known as Kodo.
The next day, you will travel back to Cairns and then continue onward to the Red Center at Ayers Rock. A private transfer will meet you at the airstrip and escort you to a remarkable resort in view of the inspiring monolith of Uluru. Bask in the pristine night sky with a private dinner for two on a secluded dune, and then follow your guide through history and scenery the next day with a visit to The Olgas and a sunset base walk around Uluru. Continue to explore the Red Desert and Kata-Tjuta National Park at your leisure, perhaps with a camel ride across the sand or a visit to the Mutitjulu Waterhole.
You could also linger by the pool to enjoy the resort’s amenities as the next day, you will fly from Ayers Rock to Sydney. Zicasso's travel professional was very attentive in listening to what was important to us and planned a trip that exceeded our expectations. All the details of our trip were provided well ahead of time and then a couple of weeks prior to our trip, he set up a video call to review the entire itinerary in detail to make sure we knew everything we needed to. I highly recommend the travel company and would definitely use them again if planning a trip to this region.

This was our first trip to Australia. Zicasso’s travel agent took time to get to know our family and how we like to travel. She gathered our interests and preferences, and carefully curated an itinerary that showcased Sydney, Melbourne, and Cairns/Port Douglas, all within our budget.
This travel agent was very responsive before and during our trip, and monitored our activities to make sure we were happy. In fact, during our stay, one of our excursions (kayaking in Cairns) was canceled due to weather and she was right on top of it. She was able to book us immediately on another expedition (whale watching) of our choice. We appreciated her responsiveness.
Overall, our entire family was extremely happy with our travel agent's arrangements and had a memorable trip to Australia.

We very much enjoyed our time in New Zealand and Australia. The tours were all very good. Zicasso's travel agent and our tour partner were very responsive and helpful throughout the planning phase and while we were on vacation.
The only feedback we have is that the hotels selected, other than the hotels in New Zealand, did not have the amenities we were hoping to get from four-star properties. We'll do a better job of indicating what we need in hotel selections moving forward, but we thought the hotels could have been a notch better than they were.

I would use our travel company again in a minute! Zicasso's travel consultant really “got me” and designed the perfect trip for us.
The highlights especially included picking perfect places for us to stay (close to most everything we were doing and in the heart of the cities). The tours, both private and small group, gave us not only what we asked for, but even more that we didn’t know existed.
The itinerary was as detailed as it could possibly be, describing the day, what to bring, names and phone numbers to call if there were issues, and who we needed to call to confirm future tour dates.
One of our highlights was the penguin experience. Our guide was great and our trip planner got us “plus” tickets, which I would definitely recommend. Finally, she provided us with the necessary info and guides (where necessary) for our amazing hikes.
