Customizable Itinerary
San Ignacio – Arrive in Belize
Your flight lands at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport in Belize City and your private transfer meets you upon arrival. While descending, you noticed the divide between the jade canopy and the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Outside of the airport, the trees shade the roadway as a wide canal runs alongside the airport, feeding into the water. Traditional villagers utilize the canals for traveling and fishing. Homes and small restaurants composed of wood panels continue to line the waterways, housing canoes, paddleboats, and overlooking smaller vessels.
Stop first at the Belize Zoo for an introduction to Belizean wildlife. The zoo offers visitors a chance to see animals that forage in the wilds of the country, yet are not always visible to people passing through. Each exhibit provides the animals with ample space and preferred habitat. Nine tapirs, a tropical relative of the rhino, graze in jungle underbrush; scarlet macaws flutter their wings around an aviary, their long tail feathers trail behind them like streamers.
Wild iguanas wander along the footpaths and perch on high handrails. The zoo encompasses 29 acres and continues its mission of protecting injured, orphaned, and endangered animals endemic to the region. Junior Buddy, a rescue jaguar, was abandoned by his mother as a cub. As a rescue animal, Junior Buddy became familiar with people due to his interactions with the zoo staff and has since become friendly with all visitors as an ambassador to teach people about the true nature of the species.

From the minute I spoke with Zicasso’s travel agent, I knew she would be the right agent for my family! She was completely understanding of our needs, which wasn't easy, given there were three generations on the trip and five children!
We needed to go between Christmas and New Year’s, of course, the busiest time, but she understood the assignment and worked over the weekend to make sure we got into the best possible places, both in the jungle and in San Pedro.
She handled my and my sister's multitude of questions with grace, professionalism, and understanding. She was thorough and organized. The excursions were all top-notch and exactly as described. She and her husband were at our beck and call the whole trip. I wouldn't choose anyone else for going to Belize!

Zicasso’s travel specialist treated me as if I were her only client. There was excellent communication during prepping for vacation, straight through the final day of the trip. The weather became an issue, shutting down many organized adventure tours. She made it possible to iron out cancellations and rebook new tours pretty much every day of our vacation. At one point, she was corresponding with us during her Christmas family dinner. We highly recommend Zicasso.

Zicasso’s tour company created an impeccably planned, well-detailed, and carefully executed bespoke Mayan archaeology tour experience for us. We were in awe of every Mayan site and learned from each of the knowledgeable guides. All accommodations were excellent and the hand-offs from guides and drivers each day were well coordinated.
The days at our lodge in Lamanai were special, with their morning and evening events. Do not miss the chocolate tour or the Belize Zoo.
Thanks to our travel specialists for arranging a very enriching travel experience for us and for keeping in touch during and after the journey.
