Tokyo – The Fascinating Fast-Paced City of Tokyo, Capital of Japan

The grand capital city of Japan looks like a Science Fiction city aglow with neon lights, sure to dazzle you upon arrival. The skyline showcases the grandeur of one of the world’s densest capitals while the streets give-way to mega-malls, boutique shops, art galleries, and a warren of historical neighborhoods hiding in the shadows beneath the Tokyo Sky Tree. Your flight will arrive at Narita International Airport, where your private transfer greets you at customs. The fast pace of the city welcomes the family amid images of Hello Kitty and the fantastical pop culture for which much of modern Japanese art is known in the form of anime and manga.

After checking into the comforts of your hotel, the remainder of the day is at your family’s leisure to discover and explore the city. The Tsukiji Fish Market was once the largest wholesale fish market in the world before moving locations to the Toyosu Market, a mile and a half away, in 2018. The new market, called Toyosu Market, opened in October of 2018 on the human-made island in the Bay of Tokyo. The space combines commercial and tourist capabilities, allowing visitors to observe the bustling fish market in action while also hosting restaurants focused on fresh, quality seafood on the premises. A second building contains sections for fruits and vegetables separate from the powerful fragrance of the saltwater and displayed fish. The marketplace offers the family a distinctive perspective of Tokyo, Japanese cuisine, and the fish intertwined with island culture.

France, Italy, China, Japan Trip Review: Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Glass Blowing, Cultural Experiences, 16 Days

Zicasso’s travel company did such a great job putting the trip together. I was charged for an extra night at our hotel in Paris, but they are refunding that and the Cairo portion of the trip we had to cancel.

Our Paris tour guide was great and I’d recommend her to anyone. Our Rome tour guides were very good. Hong Kong was fine. Our Tokyo guide was wonderful.

Really, the only hiccup on the trip was our hotel in Hong Kong. The company that picked us up dropped us at one hotel, not the correct one. Thankfully, a couple of their bellhops walked us and all our luggage several blocks to the correct hotel. Our tour guide the next day also went to the wrong hotel, but we only lost about 45 minutes before we figured out the issue. If you use that hotel again, please make sure folks know which hotel is which.

The "Fast and Furious" car experience was OK; however, my grandson was so tired he slept through most of it. The chopstick-making was fun, as was the glass-blowing experience.

China Vacation Review: Xian, Suzhou, Xitang, Terracotta Warriors, Noodle Making, Puppet Performance, Boat Ride, 9 Days

We had an amazing trip to China, thanks to Zicasso’s travel company. Our travel specialist created a great itinerary for Xian, Suzhou, and Xitang, and was always helpful, friendly, and quick to respond. The hotels they arranged were high-quality and well-located, and all transfers were smooth and on time.

In Xian, we spent three wonderful days with our guide. She was knowledgeable, experienced, and attentive. Our visit to the Terracotta Warriors was unforgettable. We also loved the hands-on noodle-making experience with local residents and trying Xian’s specialty foods.

We then explored Suzhou and Xitang for two days with our guide. His recommendations helped us appreciate Suzhou’s classical gardens, canals, and traditional architecture. In Xitang, he led us through quieter lanes, scenic bridges, and charming riverside areas, and introduced us to local snacks and artisan shops that made the visit feel authentic.

We highly recommend this travel company for anyone planning a trip to China.

Japan Trip Review: Kyoto, Tokyo, Cherry Blossoms, Tea Ceremony, Tea Plantation, Temple Visit, 13 Days

Having had Japan during the cherry blossom season on our bucket list for a very long time, it was important to use the services of an experienced and trustworthy travel agent. Zicasso’s travel specialist not only met, but exceeded our expectations. The icing on the cake included a private traditional tea ceremony, a visit to an out-of-the-way tea plantation, and a remarkable remote temple where we were the only people present. Personal English-speaking guides throughout, including the travel specialist while in Kyoto, made the trip stress-free and fun.

The entire journey of 13 days was packed with lifetime memories. Many thanks. We hope the Dream Catcher ensures you and your wife a lifetime of pleasant dreams.

Japan Vacation Review: Kyoto, Uji, Nara, 10-Day Trip

Zicasso’s travel specialist really listened to our needs for this trip and planned just the right amount of guiding to help us acclimate to the area, while still being free to roam and explore on our own.

His hotel recommendations placed us in very walkable areas and close to train stations, which we appreciated. We loved that he took the time to personally guide us through Nara and Uji on another perfect day in Japan. We would definitely book with him for our next Japan adventure.
