Day 1
London - Discover England’s Capital City With An Afternoon Walking Tour
Arrive at London’s Heathrow Airport, where your driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in central London, an area royalty and aristocrats like the Crawleys would frequent. This afternoon, your guide will meet you at your hotel for your city tour by private car. Immediately immerse yourself in the prestige of elite neighborhoods such as Knightsbridge, Chelsea, and Mayfair as you step onto sidewalks that run past the Regency architecture of grand homes. Notice the refined elegance of Georgian terraces and Victorian townhouses, then discover the unforgettable connection to Downton Abbey when your guide drives past Bridgewater House in Westminster, which acted as the home of the Crawleys in the original movie.
As you pass the white-washed abodes of exclusive Belgravia Place, you will be reminded of the scene where Lady Mary exits a car outside a home with elegant white columns and the number two boldly displayed in black, a hint that this upmarket neighborhood was a filming location for the Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale movie. Keep an eye out for ghost signs, faded advertisements, and signage from the 1930s, offering a glimpse into the commercial life of the time.
