Discovering Naxos: One Week Off the Beaten Path Treasures

After a relaxing morning, your guide will lead you on a tour of Naxos’ Old Town, which is also known as Chora. After following your guide through the seaside promenade, you will be given some time to explore the trendy boutiques and charming cafes at your leisure. You will then be treated to a sampling of some local pastries, such as spanakopita and baklava. Once your tour concludes, you will partake in a private cooking class under the tutelage of a master chef.

After breakfast this morning, you will embark on a tour of Halki. Halki is a charming village not far from Naxos’ Old Town. Your guide will lead you through the village’s unique abodes, cobblestone streets, and lush bougainvillea. Halki is quite famous for its kitron, which is a traditional liqueur of Naxos. After visiting a traditional distillery and getting the chance to taste different varieties of kitron, you will be shown the distillation process. You will then transfer to Epa, where you can sample home-made marmalade before returning to your accommodation.

After a relaxing morning, you will venture to Filoti with your guide. One of the oldest and most beloved villages on the entire island of Naxos, Filoti can be found at the base of Mt. Zas. Upon your arrival, your guide will lead you on a leisurely stroll of the town before taking you to a local olive grove to learn about how olive oil is produced. Your tour of the grove will also be complete with a tasting. On your way back to your accommodation, you will first stop by the Cave of Zas.

After breakfast this morning, you will transfer to Apeiranthos. Your guide will lead you on a tour of the town, which will allow you to witness unique architecture and learn about the town’s history. After your tour, you will have some free time to explore the town’s shops and eateries at your leisure. While dinner is not included, you will have the choice to dine in Apeiranthos instead of waiting to return to Naxos.

You will have a somewhat early morning so that you can transfer to Melanes. Upon your arrival, your guide will lead you on a scenic hike that will be focused on Naxos’ Kouroi, which are ancient statues that depict ancient Greek figures in their youth. Two of these statues can be found in Melanes, and your hike will lead you to them. Eventually, you will reach the statues before heading back to town for dinner. After returning from your hike, the rest of the evening will be left at your leisure.

After breakfast this morning, your guide will escort you to the airport for your departing flight.
