Athens – Tour Plaka and the Central Market
Your journey will begin when you land at Athens International Airport. When you arrive, a private driver will be waiting to greet and transfer you to your luxurious accommodation in the heart of the city. Soon after, your expert guide will lead you on an afternoon tour, which will include a visit to Plaka and the Central Market. In Plaka, after you learn more about the custom goods of the area from your guide, you will be given some free time to explore the jewelry, clothing, and ceramics that are on display in some of the boutiques. Detailed Description

This immersive 7-day food and wine tour will begin when you land at Athens International Airport. Upon your arrival, you will have an afternoon and evening to discover the fare of Greece’s capital city, wasting no time in immersing you in the country’s cuisine. After checking in at your hotel, an expert guide will begin your afternoon tour, which will feature a visit to Plaka and the Central Market. Plaka is one of the oldest parts of the city and is known for its intriguing boutiques. Here, you will explore the custom goods for sale before your tour continues to the Central Market of Athens. At the Central Market, you will dive into the food of the city as the delectable smells guide you through the rows of fresh meat and seafood.
On the morning of day two, excitement will mount as you set off after breakfast for the Greek island of Mykonos. You will travel in the lap of luxury via private boat, which will glide across the peaceful Aegean Sea. Upon your arrival in Mykonos, you will be whisked away to your luxurious accommodation, which will be your home for the next two nights. On your first afternoon on the island, you will be led on a private tour with a local guide. As an older woman traveling alone, I felt completely comfortable and well cared for throughout the trip, as if I were part of the family of the team at Zicasso's travel company. Every single detail of the complex and densely packed five days in Naxos and four in Athens unfolded perfectly. The travel specialist personally knew a number of the guides, drivers, and restaurateurs, and all spoke glowingly of this travel company.
From sharing honey with bees at a tiny apiary to touring the Acropolis with an archaeologist, to squeezing the whey out of cheese at a family farm and meeting the goats who provided the milk, to hiking from village to village with a guide who knew the name and medicinal use of every plant we passed, to learning to make phyllo dough, it was simply terrific!
