Reykjavik – A Gourmet City Tour Introducing Icelandic Culture
In the shadow of the snowy mountains and draped along the water, Reykjavik is Europe’s most charming capital city. The city feels more like a village with blocks of whitewashed houses with colorful roofs and church spires that seem so insignificant against the height of nature. Touch down in the morning, and it will be a quick transfer to a waterfront hotel. Check in and check out the view, as well as the crisp outside air. Settle in, and then set off on a walk through the city alongside your guide to learn about Icelandic culture as you go.
Stop in a cafe and gaze across the water, or visit a small pub and try Iceland’s beer, while asking the questions you have always wondered about Icelanders. Continue through the city, checking out rows of color-laden houses then the church which is visible from almost all of Reykjavik. It will not take long to walk the entire city, but how long it actually takes depends on how many little pubs and cafes you stop in. End your tour at a traditional restaurant, sampling some of the delicacies you will soon come to love during this tour. As you will be on a private tour, there are many options for customization and your guide will naturally tailor the afternoon to your interests.

Detailed Description
Geysers spurt in a dramatic show of power and sound as waterfalls gush from cliffs where roads have no place. Ice shimmers like diamonds on the black sands of a distant beach, and of course, there are volcanoes as well, unruly giants that pockmark the landscape as if sentinels to another world. Welcome to Iceland, an island where nature takes over, and not just any nature, as here you will find landscapes crafted by the earth’s raw power with lava fields, glaciers, bubbling streams, and lagoons so translucent they never appear real. This best-of Iceland tour will show you the full variety of highlights in seven days and reveal what nature can create when it is left to its own devices in the middle of the Atlantic.
Landscapes always set the scene in Iceland. The environment overwhelms people so even when there are many others around, it is impossible not to be awed. However, it’s always more impressive when there are no other people around, so this handcrafted tour is private to give you the opportunity to stop in places that tour buses cannot reach or do not visit. Exclusive activities showcase remote tracts of wilderness, taking you far away from any semblance of civilization. Taking a helicopter over a geothermal is one, where you touch down on lava flows far removed from the tourist trail. Snowmobiling over a glacier is another, chance to feel the solitude that exists in Iceland’s remote corners.
This private tour has been handcrafted to incorporate Iceland’s range of natural highlights. With only seven days, it is best to focus on the south of the country. Highlights in the south are more popular as they are most easily accessible from Reykjavik, which is where the advantages of a private tour really come in. Even so, you will still spend a lot of time actually traveling from days two to four, but the journeys here are the experience with a chance to rove across the wilderness and really appreciate what nature can create. Day six then provides the downtime, a full-day lagoon spa experience surrounded by lava flows.
Your Iceland tour starts in Reykjavik, the country’s only real city, though it is more like an oversized village in reality. Spend your afternoon exploring with your local guide to get a sense of Icelandic culture while also trying out the food and beer. Day two will follow Iceland’s most iconic route, the Golden Circle. Travel to waterfalls and spurting geysers, and then onto a glacier where you can snowmobile into the distance. Head to the South Coast on day three, where rainbows circle in misty waterfalls and rock formations provide surreal photos. You will spend this and the next night in Vik, where Atlantic waves crash against black sand in Iceland’s southernmost village.
Day four will be a bumpy ride to and from the country’s southeastern corner. Experience the Glacier Lagoon on a boat tour, and then walk across Diamond beach, where ice glistens on black volcanic sands. It will likely be just as bumpy as you go off road on day five as your guide takes you around the slopes of Eyjafjallajokull volcano, where hidden canyons are reached by splashing over glacial rivers. It will be quite an adventure, and by the time you reach Reykjavik, you will probably be ready for some quiet time. Spend the next day in the spa, and then helicopter over Iceland’s high geothermal area on day seven, touching down in places few others venture for the crowning highlight to seven days in Iceland. Iceland is beautiful and makes for the most unique and amazing vacation! Zicasso’s travel company arranged a breathtaking and comprehensive itinerary for our vacation. It included all the big, important stops like the Blue Lagoon, Northern Lights boat tour, and Hallgrimskirkja church. But our trip also took us all the way to the east side of the country to see Diamond Beach, a blue ice-cave tour, and a glacier hike. Our itinerary included all of the beautiful stops in between, so we saw waterfalls, volcanic formations, and museums.
We stayed in our lodge in Iceland to see the Northern Lights. Every hotel selected was cozy, comfortable, and welcoming. And the food was delicious everywhere. A surprising highlight was a tomato farm—a delicious meal in a beautiful restaurant inside the greenhouse! Their wine bar was even more beautiful!
This was our second trip through Zicasso and we are already starting to dream up the next destination...

My trip was wonderful. My travel specialist was amazing and helped me plan my dream trip! Communication before and during my trip was stellar. My flight to Iceland was canceled due to weather, but the travel specialist was phenomenal in helping with rescheduling and accommodations. I always use Zicasso when I travel abroad; they are truly the best!

We experienced the most incredible adventure in Iceland, thanks to the detailed and thoughtful itinerary Zicasso’s travel specialist designed for us. From start to finish, we felt we were well taken care of and seeing and doing everything we possibly could to enjoy this unique country. The travel specialist really listened to what we were striving for and also provided spot-on suggestions.
From the Blue Lagoon to glacier adventures in a Super Jeep and snowmobiles, to a food tour and geothermal rye bakery tour, we experienced so much. More importantly, we were connected with the very best guides/driverscand our accommodations fit our family perfectly. All seven of us on this trip agreed it was one of the best trips we've ever taken and we hope to have the opportunity to go back.
I 100% would reconnect with the travel specialist again to plan future itineraries for us. In fact, we have family and friends who, after hearing about our experience, asked to be connected as well. We are so appreciative to have had this experience and now have fond memories to cherish.

Great trip, accommodations, and well-planned itineraries. Zicasso’s travel company worked well with the guide service. The English-speaking guides were very knowledgeable and great drivers for all the different weather conditions we encountered.

My family and I just came back from a week-long trip to Iceland, and we had a wonderful time. I have a travel agent in the US that I normally work with, but the initial price I was getting from her was $7,000/day. I was shocked by how expensive it was, so I started searching on my own to see if I could find better deals. That's when I happened to see the Zicasso website. I looked at the reviews and people had a lot of good things to say about them.
I connected with two travel agents on Zicasso and chose to go with our travel specialist because the itinerary was very organized and easy to understand. I gave him our budget, but told him I was willing to go up for a more private experience. I have a daughter who has a chronic condition, so my family and I normally do private tours instead of group tours so we can change the schedule if she's not feeling well.
We had a private driver for four days touring the Golden Circle, plus it included pick-up and drop-off from our hotels and airport during the other days. The cost was significantly less and I got the trip I was hoping for.
Our itinerary included hotels, private driver, excursions like ice caving, lava caves, Northern Lights tour, Blue Lagoon, and different waterfalls, etc. Because we had a private driver, we got to see more than most tourists normally see from those bus tours.
We thought it was an amazing trip. Our travel specialist was very easy to work with. A few days before our trip, he was sending me emails to make sure we knew what to pack and wanted to make sure I reviewed my itinerary carefully in case I had questions. While we were in Iceland, he also checked up on us to make sure we were doing okay. He provided contact information for his office and the Iceland emergency number in case we ran into issues. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service the travel company provided, especially our travel specialist. I highly recommend them.

Zicasso’s travel specialist was wonderful. He was very attentive to our interests and needs, and was able to pivot based on the weather and conditions. Our driver, who picked us up at the airport, took us to the Blue Lagoon and waited, and drove us to our hotel and to the airport from the Sky Lagoon at the end of our trip, which was also great.
