Trim – Arrive in Dublin and Discover the Legends of Trim Castle

The ancient Book of Kells has amassed legendary status on display in the permanent exhibition at Trinity College. The River Liffey brushes against the banks of Dublin winding through the city. Buskers perform on Grafton Street with charm and grace amid the preserved Georgian architecture towering over the cobbled lanes. Dublin has a mythology all of its own brimming form pubs sharing folkloric songs and spinning yarns about Oscar Wilde with a bust decorating Merrion Square. Your private transfer greets the family upon arrival at Dublin Airport before escorting you out of the bustling city to Ireland's largest Anglo-Norman fortification at Trim’s Castle.

The castle was established in 1173 and rebuilt around the early 13th century. Narrow steep stairs wind around the towering turrets reaching the tower. The heritage town retains a sense of beauty in view of the castle doorstep. The scent of delicious bread, cakes, and pies emanates from a bakery working at the heart of town. Your guide introduces the family to the story of Fionn McCumhaill, also known as Finn McCool, who burned his thumb cooking a salmon for his master. By tasting the salmon first, Fionn gained all the knowledge in the world.

United Kingdom, Ireland Travel Review: Edinburgh, Dublin

Zicasso’s travel specialist and his team were superb. They were able to craft the perfect trip for us. The hotels, destinations, and tours were all very well planned and arranged, and they went out of their way to arrange everything just as we requested.

I would recommend the travel company to everyone who wants polite, efficient service. The team was available and responded a couple of times quickly during the trip when we had questions. Overall, they made our trip one to remember for years to come. We were all very happy.

Scotland, Ireland Tour Review: Edinburgh, Stirling, Dublin, Galway, Castles, 9 Days

Zicasso’s travel specialists were excellent to work with, as we adjusted our itinerary many times from initial contact to the time of travel. Our travel party significantly reduced in number and they worked with us to put together a great tour of Scotland (Edinburgh, including the castle, Royal Holyrood Palace, and a day trip to Stirling Castle with a great chauffeur/guide) and Ireland, arranging our flight to Dublin with transportation to Galway, then return via train for activities in Dublin. We had a wonderful trip and would highly recommend the travel company.
