Rome – Arrive in Rome with a Baroque Introductory Tour

The marvels of Rome will emanate from the iconic monuments like the Trevi Fountain where the symmetrical design that features Oceanus at its center will draw your eye. The Eternal City captures the imagination of visitors with a mixture of ancient ruins, inspiring artwork, bustling streets with vibrant contemporary culture, and charismatic, medieval lanes that hide delicious restaurants.

Your private transfer will meet you upon your arrival at Fiumicino Airport and escort you to your gorgeous hotel at the heart of the 3,000 year-old city. You will enjoy a chance to settle into the comforts of your accommodations before meeting your guide in the lobby for a fascinating introductory tour of the marvelous, Baroque décor. Your guide will lead you to the artistic treasures of Rome, turning the historic city center into an open-air museum that features the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, and the Pantheon.

The Pantheon was built in the second century AD after nearly two millennia and still retains the largest, unreinforced concrete dome in the world. Stepping through the porch will take you between the 16 massive granite columns. The interior marble flooring has a slight gradient beneath the opening in the dome that leads to a drain for filtering out water when it rains. The dramatic, ancient beauty culminates beneath the semicircular dome that stands 142 feet tall and acts as the inspiration for architectural designs by Michelangelo and Bernini.

Italy Tour Review: Sorrento, Venice, Colosseum, Blue Grotto, Gondola Ride, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel agent developed our itinerary to our specifications. She reached out right away and called if a follow-up was needed or to clarify something. Our trip went off without any problems. The itinerary was very clear, as was the timeline, trip summary, and tickets. If I had a question, she always responded.

We had one slight issue, which was quickly resolved and worked itself out. I communicated often with her throughout the trip and I always received a pleasant response. Our trip was designed to our needs. Our accommodations were wonderful! I would definitely recommend this travel company!

France, Italy, China, Japan Trip Review: Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Glass Blowing, Cultural Experiences, 16 Days

Zicasso’s travel company did such a great job putting the trip together. I was charged for an extra night at our hotel in Paris, but they are refunding that and the Cairo portion of the trip we had to cancel.

Our Paris tour guide was great and I’d recommend her to anyone. Our Rome tour guides were very good. Hong Kong was fine. Our Tokyo guide was wonderful.

Really, the only hiccup on the trip was our hotel in Hong Kong. The company that picked us up dropped us at one hotel, not the correct one. Thankfully, a couple of their bellhops walked us and all our luggage several blocks to the correct hotel. Our tour guide the next day also went to the wrong hotel, but we only lost about 45 minutes before we figured out the issue. If you use that hotel again, please make sure folks know which hotel is which.

The "Fast and Furious" car experience was OK; however, my grandson was so tired he slept through most of it. The chopstick-making was fun, as was the glass-blowing experience.

Italy Travel Review: Amalfi Coast, Rome, Capri, Sorrento, 10 Nights

We had an amazing trip of a lifetime to the Amalfi Coast and Rome. Zicasso’s travel specialist did a fantastic job getting to know me and finding out what my exact wants were. They kept tabs on us while we were traveling and even contacted us when our train was delayed over an hour. When we had an issue, there was always someone there to help resolve it.

We had a great trip. There were some tiny glitches along the way, but that's to be expected. We saw most of what I had planned on. It was easy to work with our agent.

Italy Travel Review: Agrigento, Trapani, Favignana, Siracusa, Terrasini, Boat Ride, Street Food Tour, 2 Weeks

I really liked the hotels and the Airbnb we were booked in. The breakfasts were lovely, and the staff was even lovelier. Also, I appreciated that we started our trip in a smaller place before we tackled the bigger cities. The excursions were nicely spaced out and we really enjoyed our start-of-the-season boat cruise, as well as the final market tour.

Our drivers were either early or on time, and our “long-haul” driver for two of our trips was great. He and my husband really hit it off.

I really appreciated that staff members were available when we needed them (even on the weekends and even when we were the ones who showed up in the wrong spot).

Italy Vacation Review: Vatican, Colosseum, Venice, Cooking Class, Wine Tasting, Olive Oil, 11 Nights

Zicasso’s travel specialist made this our best trip ever. She was communicative and accommodating, as well as always available for our questions. Every tour and every guide was exceptional. Their ability to communicate their enthusiasm and passion was jaw-dropping. We came back each day with our mouths dropped by the amount of information and the fun we had. Each hotel the travel specialist picked for us was great, offering the best locations and caring, accommodating staff. She was a lovely and genuine person.

One of the highlights was our cooking class with a chef. This does not diminish each tour guide; they were perfect. Also, she arranged private transport that made our trip a breeze from beginning to end. Especially cool was the taxi in Venice! Thank you, to our travel specialist and Zicasso, for an amazing vacation. Oh, the wine and olive oil were perfection. Highly recommend!
