Detailed Description
The great wildebeest migration is Africa’s most expressive spectacle. This is the surreal journey of 2 million animals around the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystem. It is a world wonder that is vastly misunderstood. Most people only hear about the famous Mara River crossing, but there is so much to discover every month of the year. This two-week safari focuses on different elements of the great wildebeest migration with three days in the Masai Mara and three in the Serengeti. It is complemented by a day in Ngorongoro Crater and followed by four relaxed days on Zanzibar island. Also, as a part of this Kenya and Tanzania safari, you will experience treats like Jozani Forest and the Giraffe Centre, which help to offer a rounded East Africa vacation.
Through the canvas, you can hear the hooves. Wildebeest are on the move as hundreds of thousands create a percussion sound across the grasslands. Zebras are grazing around the camp with their black and white stripes in a blur. Ungulates are everywhere, and it seems like the great wildebeest migration has no end. Elsewhere in the Serengeti and Masai Mara, there is another safari story. The herds are yet to arrive, and the cats appear scrawny. Tetchy and tense scenes unfold around a waterhole with lionesses harassing young elephants. The entire ecosystem is defined by rains and change, and you need time to explore and appreciate all these nuances, which is something that is provided on this great migration safari.
This great wildebeest migration safari can be taken at any month of the year. You travel the length of the Masai Mara and Serengeti ecosystem and will spend some days with the largest herds. Exploring areas where the wildebeest have been or are yet to go is all part of your excursion. There are fewer animals, but a contrasting landscape and atmosphere will prove worthwhile. Although spotted hyenas can follow the herds, other predators cannot. So, you will truly witness how the migration brings seasonal abundance and dictates annual struggle on the grasslands. Exclusive experiences enhance your connection. Walk with Masai warrior guides, go off trail to find leopard cubs, and stay in a mobile camp that attracts the herds.
Unfortunately, there is not much more to Kenya and Tanzania than the great wildebeest migration. Start in Nairobi and ease into the safari with a day in Nairobi National Park. Giraffes will poke their heads through your hotel window, and there will be plenty of time to relax after your flight. From the Serengeti, you will travel into Ngorongoro Conservation Area, spending day nine on a game drive inside the crater. Fly to Zanzibar on day ten with 24 hours in Stone Town to connect you with the history and culture. Then you will finish on a white beach, gazing across the Indian Ocean and reflecting on your spectacular safari journey. Trip was well organized by Zicasso’s travel specialist and her team. Support in Kenya with my missing luggage was outstanding. Safari tours, city tours, and the respective accommodations more than met our expectations.

We loved everything about the trip! It was definitely a five-star experience! Zicasso’s travel specialist was wonderful. We had to cancel the original trip due to my health, but she was able to work with the travel companies, so we lost less money than we might have. She is very responsive and patient with questions. Her team was able to track down my visa to Tanzania when the other three had already received theirs!

The best trip ever—Zicasso’s tour company made it unforgettable!
From start to finish, our experience with this travel company was nothing short of exceptional. We booked a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to Uganda and Kenya, with the highlights being gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and safari game drives across the vast savannas of Kenya. This travel company exceeded every expectation we had.
Pre-Trip Planning and Communication
The travel company stood out right away with their responsiveness and attention to detail. Every question was answered quickly and thoughtfully, and the itinerary was crafted to match exactly what we hoped for—an authentic, adventurous journey with comfort, safety, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Uganda–Gorilla Trekking
The highlight in Uganda—and of our trip—was, without a doubt, the trek to see the mountain gorillas. Our guides and trackers were extraordinary, making sure we were prepared and knew what to expect. The moment we found ourselves just feet away from a gorilla family in the wild was beyond words—humbling, emotional, and unforgettable.
The travel company chose excellent accommodations, blending comfort with proximity to the parks.
Kenya–Safari Adventures
In Kenya, we explored some of the most iconic safari landscapes. Our guides were not only skilled drivers, but also walking encyclopedias of wildlife knowledge. We were lucky to witness elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, leopards, and even the elusive cheetah—all up close, with plenty of time to observe and take it all in.
The safari camps were beautiful and thoughtfully chosen, offering amazing food, warm hospitality, and the perfect balance between comfort and adventure.

The travel company’s team truly elevated this trip. Every guide we met was passionate, friendly, and dedicated to making sure we had the best possible experience.
