Detailed Description
Spain's art ripples across the centuries; a dozen styles and schools fill canvases with vibrant blurs and experimental expressionism. The names ignite the imagination, promising splendor and surrealism: Picasso, Dali, Goya, El Greco, and Velazquez. But these are just the start, the famed sons who forever influenced the world of art. Delve deeper and the country is a treasure chest of galleries and locally renowned artists, their work spreading across cathedral domes, convent walls, and world-famous museums. This art lover's tour magnificently represents the great Spanish painters, while also leading the eye through artistic niches and subtle delights. A specialist art historian guides you through every gallery and museum trip, helping to provide a rich context and history to the works. As you travel from Madrid to Malaga you piece together your own narrative of the country's art heritage and distinct style.
Madrid is one of the world's great art capitals and your base for the first five days. Visit the astonishing collections of renowned galleries like the Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyseen-Bornemisza Collection. But also discover the city's lesser-known delights, like Goya's frescos in the San Antonio de la Florida and Lazaro Galdiano's collection of Velazquez and Zurbaran. For every world-famous canvas, like Picasso's Guernica, there's a local treasure that unveils artists' early work. Madrid is also where you take your first art master class, with another one being enjoyed later on in Cordoba.
Days six to nine are spent in Cuenca and Toledo, quaint medieval towns that you marvel at in the magnitude of their history. The old mixes with the new here, from a day dedicated to the ethereal work of El Greco, to the late 21st century Spanish work found in Cuenca's Museum of Abstract Art. Cathedrals and churches feature staggeringly elaborate frescos, some of the old masters' finest work found in the Gothic and Renaissance monuments of yesteryear. Like Madrid, expert local guides show you around, combining galleries and museums with evocative medieval architecture.
On day ten you travel by first-class train to Andalusia and the exotic remains of Cordoba. The buildings have a distinctively Eastern feel, grand displays of wealth that present an alternative side to Spain's historical art. The Fine Arts Museum and Museo Julio Romera de Torres feature a more classical side to Andalusia before you complete the vacation in Malaga, birthplace of Picasso. The painter's blossoming style can be read in his early work, on display at the Picasso Museum, and another specialist guide helps to unlock the hidden corners of his art.

Zicasso’s travel specialist is absolutely A+—BEST IN CLASS!!!
Planning the trip with him was delightful. He listened carefully during our initial call and we had several conversations and emails to design the itinerary. His recommendations were spot-on and he was very flexible and supportive of our requested modifications, and incredibly responsive. It was an excellent experience planning the trip!
We LOVED the travel app he uses—it was truly helpful during the time we were in Spain. Everyone in our family really appreciated it!
When on the ground in Spain, we were in texting contact with him throughout the trip, including requesting additional add-on experiences the day before, which he made happen, and other small and meaningful adjustments! All of the drivers and guides selected were on time, professional, with deep knowledge, and delightful and fun to be with.
We absolutely loved our trip and it was just fabulous to work with a travel partner as excellent as him!

Our family had an amazing time on our 10-day trip to Morocco and Southern Spain! The itinerary that was crafted for us was wonderful, where we saw multiple cities, with simple transfers.
The tour guides in each city were wonderful, with incredible knowledge of each city and site that we toured.
The hotels in Spain that were chosen for us were also great in quality and location—ideally situated in each city. In particular, our hotel in Córdoba was beautiful, located in an historic building.
All of the transportation services used had professional drivers in modern, clean vans.
In the event that we had an issue, question, or needed a recommendation, Zicasso’s tour company was very responsive and really helpful. We really were happy with our experience in the planning and execution of our family trip!

Flawless doesn't begin to describe how incredible and meticulous the planning and taste that went into designing our Spain and Morocco trip. I reached out to Zicasso’s travel specialist far in advance, describing a dream vacation for my husband and me that included a near-impossible amount of locations to cover through both countries in only two weeks. We had tried coming up with an itinerary with another planner prior to meeting the travel specialist, but it did not work out. When we shared our vision with the travel specialist, he materialized it on paper in a way that made sense and even made adjustments that fit within our budget. We got to see every location with enough time to savor each.
The order of travel from Barcelona to Andalucía to Morocco was an intricate weave that told a story of cross-cultural exchange. We started off with Gaudí architecture and the Sagrada Família, sunsets at the Puente Nuevo, Alhambra, and Córdoba, marveled at the grandeur of the mosque cathedral, savored seafood paella and Picasso art in Málaga. We finished off road-tripping in Morocco, starting from the blue city of Chefchaouhen, continuing our journey through Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Marrakech, and the Atlas Mountains. It was nothing short of magical.
We will never forget the beauty of the sun rising above the Atlas Mountains, private candlelit dinners on our private terrace in the riads, the colors of the souks, and the hospitality of our Moroccan hosts. Each riad was carefully selected and far exceeded our expectations. And of course, our driver in Morocco was an absolute delight and went above and beyond. Besides providing transportation, he acted as a friend who showed us the ins and outs, helping us see Morocco in a way that we would not have if we went in a large group or had chosen to come alone. Overall, my husband and I cannot recommend our travel specialist enough.
