Madrid - Touchdown and Sunset Dinner in Plaza Mayor

As your plane comes to a halt at Adolfo Suarez Madrid–Barajas Airport, you will be greeted by the warm Spanish sun. Your private transport will transfer you to the center of the city, where the hustle and bustle of life in the nation's capital are in full swing. Trinket and souvenir vendors will call out their daily deals as pedestrians stroll down cobbled streets for a relaxing afternoon of shopping along the Plaza del Sol. Taxis will honk as they weave in and out of traffic while tourists admire Madrid's eclectic architecture that is bursting from churches, temples, palaces, and museums.

You should take your time to get situated in your five-star hotel that overlooks the downtown area. Once you have settled in and become acclimated, you can take a stroll down narrow streets and expansive plazas as nightlife descends on the metropolis. Soon, you will arrive at Plaza Mayor to enjoy a romantic late-night dinner. You will be able to choose from a list of locally sourced wines from the famed region of La Rioja and have your first taste of flavorful Spanish cuisine as you bite into jamon iberico, which is a finely cured ham, or tortilla de patatas, which is a creamy, omelet-style potato and cheese delight.

In the evening, you will stroll around the grand plaza perimeter that was once the center of Old Madrid before making your way back to the hotel as you listen to the enchanting melodies of local street musicians.

Spain, Portugal Vacation Review: Madrid, Toledo, Granada, Seville, Lisbon, Porto, 10 Nights

We loved our trip to Spain and Portugal! We enjoyed each of our private tours with our tour guides in the various cities we experienced. They went above and beyond to share their knowledge of the planned sites, plus they added in individual unique sites and information along our walking route.

Zicasso’s tour company took all of our requested activities, venues, and interests to customize a trip that fit us well. They were in communication with us during our trip when a planned site was not available due to construction. Our tour guide provided us with other possible replacement options and let us choose what was of interest to us rather than them making the decision.

We tremendously enjoyed all of the cities, Madrid, Toledo, Granada, and Seville in Spain and Lisbon and Porto in Portugal. Our trip went smoothly and the activities were scheduled at a good pace for us! An extra bonus for us was seeing King Felipe VI by being in the right place at the right time near the opera house in Madrid while we were on our walking tour. We highly recommend Zicasso and the tour company.
