Detailed Description
The wildlife of Australia and New Zealand is as bizarre as it is beautiful. Mobs of kangaroos hop across the fertile plains and desert landscapes. Flightless kiwis and takahes leave their colors on the forest floor, while orcas jump from ocean waters. Koalas sleepily cling to their trees, eyes half-closed, while dolphins seem permanently awake, their fins rising effortlessly past your boat cruise. All of these species inhabit vast and wild landscapes, their havens ranging from red desert to untouched islands. This unique luxury tour takes you on a journey through all of the unusual species and offers safari moments with the great icons of the South Pacific. This trip is not a zoo-like experience, rather a chance to explore the native landscapes that teem with the countries' unique characters.
Start in Australia with a royal welcome provided by the kangaroos hopping in the plains outside Melbourne. Several relaxed days include everything from wine tasting to cute koalas clinging to trees. Kangaroo Island continues the marsupial theme, and you're surrounded; as in most destinations on this itinerary, you're engrossed in all the drama and charm of the interaction between the animals. At sacred Uluru, travel by camel caravan and then by hot air balloon before spending several nights in Cairns, the jumping point for the Great Barrier Reef, and there are various ways to go beneath the surface.
New Zealand's flightless birds continue to inhabit the country's native forest, and Tiritiri Matangi is a great introduction to their exotic colors. Move to Kapiti Island to seek out the famous kiwi before you cross the Cook Straight to Kaikoura. A remarkable six different whale species travel through the waters here, and two days of boat cruises ensure that you get close to their large frames. Sperm whales usually steal the show, along with dolphins and fur seals – they are the marine residents in these parts rather than the migrants. Stewart Island, and neighboring Ulva Island, provide your final stop, both islands completely untouched by invasive species and resemble what New Zealand looked like before the Europeans arrived. A couple of nights in this lost paradise provide a symbolic conclusion to the tour as it reveals kaleidoscopic landscapes and indigenous wildlife.

We appreciate all that Zicasso’s travel company did to make our trip to New Zealand such a fantastic experience. Everything was planned out perfectly and we enjoyed every minute of it. The accommodations in each town were wonderful and the excursions, tours, and tastings were all delightful. Having our own drivers also allowed us to really enjoy the scenery and to not have to worry about getting from point A to point B across the South and North islands. The travel company was there for us from the very beginning as we started planning the trip, until we returned home, and was very responsive and helpful every time we reached out to them.

We selected this travel company through Zicasso and are thrilled we made that decision. We worked with a travel specialist whose knowledge helped us determine the journey we wanted to take through New Zealand, the types of activities and tours we should do, and the best places to stay in the cities, towns, and villages we wanted to see. She provided a list of hotels and activities to choose from.
All of the suggested activities were amazing: well-led, accessible, and breathtakingly scenic. Our trip, almost 30 days in length, was simply outstanding. The hotels were generally great and while we did our own research on many of the restaurants we booked, the several she suggested were excellent.
The travel specialist listened to what our interests were and helped us plan a trip accordingly, keeping our budget in mind. We can wholeheartedly recommend this travel company.

It was an absolutely amazing trip. Zicasso’s travel specialist planned every little detail, with lots of nice surprises. From hotels to tours, they were all top-notch. We would recommend this travel specialist 100%.
We spent seven weeks traveling New Zealand and Australia and could not have put it together as nicely as he did, and we felt like we were treated to the best rooms and best seats at every stop. Do not go it alone, as there are too many details to put together, and we feel there was tremendous value in what we received.
