Detailed Description

The best of Peru and Bolivia encompass the diverse culture with inspiring scenery and incredible archeology. Your 2-week tour to Peru and Bolivia will immerse you in the unique world of the Andes like no other, allowing you to experience the daily life of locals and witness the true grandeur of the high altitude plains. You will arrive at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima to begin your adventure with your gorgeous hotel in Miraflores offering a luxurious base for visiting the capital of Peru. Get acquainted with the seaside cliffs, colonial architecture, and cosmopolitan ambiance at your preferred pace.

The city of Cusco offers an eclectic mix of Spanish architecture, Incan remains, and Andean culture. Take your time getting acclimated to the high altitudes before exploring the undulating cobblestone streets and vibrant marketplaces. Meet with artists and enjoy the artwork that decorates the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption. The Sacred Valley brings images of continued Andean custom amidst the vibrant stone works of the Incan Empire. Visit the towns of Pisac, Maras, and Ollantaytambo before enjoying the scenic train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. Your tour of the mythical Incan lost city leads you along stunning temples, astronomical calendars, and to the peak of the neighboring Huayna Picchu. Upon returning to Cusco, you can visit the surrounding Incan architecture, including the Sacsayhuaman fortress and the former Sun Temple.

Arequipa is known for its white walls crafted out of soft volcanic stone, and the city shimmers with rich Spanish colonial stylistic details and a host of unique museums. Venture into the Colca Canyon on a full-day exploration where vicuna roams, hot springs bubble, and condors soar. En route to the city of Puno, you can stop at the Church of San Pedro at Andahuaylillas to view the antique frescoes. Move next to sail the tranquil freshwater of Lake Titicaca and meet with the Uros people, known for making floating islands out of totora reeds. Spend time with the detailed weavers on Taquile Island before returning to Puno for the evening.

Cross the border into Bolivia and enjoy the unique lakeside town of Copacabana. Visit the Moon and Sun Islands to meet with the local villages that are guarding their heritage against mainland Bolivia, along with the unique Incan ruins of the Virgins of the Sun. Travel to La Paz, the capital of Bolivia, and enjoy the unforgettable mixture of mountain ridges overtaken by urban sprawl. Explore the active city with an aerial view on the cable car. Outside of La Paz, you can visit the remarkable ruins of Tiahuanaco, a pre-Columbian archeological site that dates back more than two millennia and sparks fascinating questions about the beginnings and ends of the ancient civilization.

Peru Travel Review: Machu Picchu, Cuisine, 10 Nights

Fantastic!!!! I can't say enough good things about this trip. Zicasso's travel partner did an excellent job at everything! Communication was excellent, our tours were perfect, and our guides and drivers were so helpful.

The guides were beyond our expectations with their knowledge, flexibility, and always going above and beyond. I ended up in the hospital and our guide came to the hospital and helped with all the details, getting me a refund on parts of my bill and getting us to our flight home in less than three hours from being released from the hospital!!

Peru Family Trip Review: Machu Picchu, ATV Ride, 10 Nights...

From the first communication, Zicasso's travel partner listened to our hopes for the trip (multiple locations, epic adventures, keeping teenagers engaged) and crafted a perfect itinerary. Every aspect of the trip was seamless, with the best tours and the best guides, and perfectly appointed hotels.

Our trip coordinator was super-accessible and helpful before and during the trip for any questions that came up. She had great recommendations and insights that we appreciated as first-timers to Peru. She even came by mid-week to say hello, which was an incredible surprise and so wonderful to get to meet her in person!

When one of our return flights home was cancelled, she quickly pivoted and took care of everything to ensure we could still enjoy our last day without stress. The whole family is still talking about the trip and I am so grateful to our trip coordinator for helping us to create a lifetime of incredible memories!
