London – Inspiring Introductions at the British Library

Land in London and head to the essential start of your literary tour. With its 400 miles of shelves, the British Library is the world's second largest. You could get lost here for days, immersed in the scent of ancient manuscripts and wooden frames. A local guide helps navigate through the pages, revealing handwritten Beatles lyrics and two original copies of the 800-year-old Magna Carta (there are only four in existence), the world's seminal declaration of liberties. Just about every book ever published in the UK has a home in the British Library. With advance notice, your guide can request any rare and unusual books you are interested in. From historic copies of Jane Austen to tales of migrating Europeans, there's a chance to see books that even the most specialist of book shops has never laid eyes upon.  Airport transfers are included today and you'll have chance to rest and freshen up before the library visit. Detailed Description

England sometimes baffles America with its quirky spellings and unusual phrases, but there was a famous literary setting here long before Columbus even set sail. This is the home of Shakespeare, the poetic cornerstone in a line of authors that have shaped imaginations around the world. They span the genres, and their inspirations are very real; Tolkien's surrealist tones came from Oxford chapels and dining halls, a Dickensesque London takes you down atmospheric alleyways, while Davy Byrne's Pub is just like what you might have pictured when reading Ulysses. You travel from the “city of dreaming spires” to where Shakespeare sat and wisely penned “but love is blind, and lovers cannot see.” You breathe in the musty scent of the millions of books that fill the Bodleian and British libraries. And you celebrate the seminal destinations from some of the world's greatest ever literary figures.

Begin your England vacation in London and the five-star Brown's Hotel, the inspiration for Agatha Christie and Rudyard Kipling amongst others. Tour the city of eclectic imaginations, including the world of Conan Doyle and Samuel Johnson. As the pages turn, you journey through the centuries, taking a walk down the memory lane of Dickens and the 17th-century sonnets of Shakespeare. The 10-day tour is dappled with the quaint touches of royal England, ensuring you indulge in the classic scenes from a Jane Austen novel, like afternoon tea and glamorous stately homes. There's also many free afternoons so you can also explore your own chapters.

Move on to Oxford and its inspiring university halls, places where Oscar Wilde and C. S. Lewis sat and mused with their fountain pens. Some of the buildings have such a strong Harry Potter resonance that it's hard to decide who's been plagiarizing. Seductive and often surreal, the city offers a showcase into an England that features in the travel reverie of many first-time visitors. There's something unquestionably and insatiably English about it all, even if you can't quite grasp why. Nearby Stratford-upon-Avon reveals the same tones of quintessence, the birthplace of Shakespeare looking remarkably like it did back in the early 17th century. On a literary tour, it's an absolute must, one enhanced by a performance at the town's celebrated theater.

From England to Dublin, you complete the tour with James Joyce and the turn-of-last-century inspiration for Ulysses and Dubliner. Just like the lanes of Dickens' London, you're guided through the city by a local author, unraveling the fabled destinations from the annals of world literary history. Throughout these entire ten days, you enjoy private luxury transfers, indulgent five-star accommodations, and guides with a distinct specialism. With literature as your focus, you discover the hidden sites that have become iconic images in the eyes of millions around the world.

Ireland, England Tour Review: Dublin, Bampton, Highclere Castle, Wine Tasting, 12 Days

Our trip to Ireland and England went well and was very enjoyable and memorable. Zicasso's travel company planned it well and everything went according to plan. We stayed in three hotels; all were nice, but our hotel in Kent was exceptional. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly.

Scotland, Ireland Tour Review: Edinburgh, Stirling, Dublin, Galway, Castles, 9 Days

Zicasso’s travel specialists were excellent to work with, as we adjusted our itinerary many times from initial contact to the time of travel. Our travel party significantly reduced in number and they worked with us to put together a great tour of Scotland (Edinburgh, including the castle, Royal Holyrood Palace, and a day trip to Stirling Castle with a great chauffeur/guide) and Ireland, arranging our flight to Dublin with transportation to Galway, then return via train for activities in Dublin. We had a wonderful trip and would highly recommend the travel company.

Ireland Anniversary Travel Review: Private Driver, Dublin, Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Galway, Blarney Castle, Kerry Cliffs, Cliffs of Moher, Connemara, Sheepdog Demonstration, Chocolate Tasting, 1-Week Trip

If you're considering a trip to Ireland, stop searching and book with Zicasso's travel company. Our travel specialist planned an incredible weeklong itinerary that struck the perfect balance between Ireland's iconic landmarks and the hidden gems we never would have discovered on our own. Every day felt thoughtfully designed and every detail was flawlessly executed.

From the moment we were greeted at the airport until our final departure, everything was seamless. Our accommodations were excellent, our tickets were always waiting for us, and we never had to worry about logistics. All we had to do was enjoy Ireland.

The true highlight of our trip, however, was our driver. He was far more than a driver. He quickly became an ambassador for his country, an outstanding storyteller, and a wonderful travel companion. His knowledge of Ireland's history, culture, and local traditions brought every destination to life. Along the way, he introduced us to some of his favorite local spots and shared stories that you simply won't find in a guidebook. Watching his beloved Galway hurling team qualify for the championship while we were there made the experience even more memorable and his enthusiasm for Ireland was contagious.

He was endlessly patient, flexible, and attentive. He anticipated our needs before we did and made sure we never missed a special viewpoint, photo opportunity, or worthwhile stop. It seemed like he knew someone everywhere we went and it was obvious why. His warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness left an impression on everyone he met.

In just one week, we experienced Dublin, Killarney, the Ring of Kerry, Galway, Blarney Castle, a fascinating sheepdog demonstration, some of the best chocolate we've ever tasted (Irish dairy really is that good!), the breathtaking Kerry Cliffs, the Cliffs of Moher, the spectacular landscapes of Connemara—our favorite region of the trip—and finished at the beautiful Slieve Donard in Northern Ireland. It was the perfect blend of history, scenery, culture, and fun.

This trip was our celebration of 25 years of marriage and we truly cannot imagine a better way to have marked the occasion. The travel company exceeded every expectation and our travel specialist's careful planning made it all possible.

If you're looking for an unforgettable Irish vacation, where every detail is taken care of, I recommend this travel company without hesitation. And if you have the opportunity, request our driver. It will be one of the best decisions you make. He didn't just show us Ireland; he helped us experience it.

Ireland Tour Review: Galway, Food Tour, Horse Riding, Sheep Herding, 1 Week

The trip could not have been better! Our driver set the tone for the trip. He was outstanding. A superb driver, he also explained much about Irish culture and traditions, as well as the history of different areas and structures.

The agenda laid out by Zicasso's tour company was perfect, as were the hotels we stayed in! I had insisted on staying at a castle hotel in Ireland, which turned out to be wonderful. The tour company might consider that as an option for some travelers, as it has a lot to offer for families, as well as individual travelers.

The Irish dancing show was a perfect ending to a perfect Irish adventure.

Ireland Travel Review: Dublin, Galway, Food Tour, 9 Days

Our trip went off exactly as planned. Our guide took us to a number of off-the-beaten-path sights that greatly enhanced our visit. There were a number of sights that were so commercialized that we did not stay long. We had a three-hour walking tour of Dublin that helped us get over jet lag on day one. We had a food tour of Galway on day seven that introduced us to the city in a wonderful way. Zicasso’s tour company did a great job setting it all up and making our vacation a real treat.
