Sorrento – Arrive in Naples and Transfer to Sorrento at Leisure
Sorrento is the perfect western gateway to the Amalfi Coast attracting 19th-century poets and authors like Lord Byron and Goethe, Dickens, and Tolstoy to enjoy the natural beauty that spans the Bay of Naples. The cobbled lanes wind along the glistening shore leading alongside palatial hotels and a network of boutique shops. The scent of the sea air fades beneath the ever-present aroma of lemons. Your flight arrives at Naples International Airport, where your private transfer greets you. Travel outside of the bustling southern city and around the bay passing the infamous peak of Mount Vesuvius. The grandeur of Sorrento is understated nestled between the staggering bordering cliffs reaching 180 feet above sea level.
The relaxed ambiance spreads across the beaches and former noble houses, as well as through the heart of the historical city center leading to Piazza Tasso. After settling into the comforts of your luxury hotel overlooking the charming waters lapping at Marina Grande, the remainder of the day is yours to bask in the welcoming charms of the city. The Basilica di Sant’Antonio has a dramatic exterior reminiscent of a brutalist office building, but the interior paints a more ethereal picture with uncovered Roman artifacts and medieval paintings reflecting dark themes. Zicasso's travel specialist did an amazing job coordinating our trip to the south of Italy. Having our transportation coordinated entirely by her made our time in three different towns (Sorrento, Capri, and Naples) so smooth and stress-free. We had amazing excursions planned privately for us that made great memories.

I recently completed an incredible 12-day vacation in Italy, arranged by Zicasso’s travel company, and it was one of the best vacations I have ever had. From the initial planning with the travel specialist and her team to the seamless execution on the ground, everything exceeded my expectations for a luxury custom trip.
We started in Italy, where we were immediately met at the airport by a hostess who got us through all the lines in record time and into a Mercedes Sprinter van that took us to Naples. Naples offered us a really vibrant, authentic Italian feel, and the incredible food that the travel specialist recommended from the movie "Eat Pray Love" was the best pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life. I don’t think I can eat pizza in the United States anymore. The private drivers and guides made this whole trip stress-free.
Our next incredible experience was the dream-like Amalfi, Sorrento, and the Isle of Capri. The hotel in Positano was beautiful. We were enchanted with all the colorful cliffs, the boutique shopping, and the stunning view from our balcony room. Sorrento was my favorite city of all. It was very relaxed, with lemon groves everywhere and beautiful sunsets, and our hotel had balconies that opened up on the Mediterranean. The highlight of our trip was the island of Capri. The boat ride was just fantastic and we started at the top of the mountain and did the chairlift so we had a whole view of the city.
The highlights of the trip for me were the boat ride along the Amalfi Coast, the cooking class and wine experience at the female venture, and the wine by Mount Vesuvius.
Our last two nights were back in Rome and it was kind of hard to go from the low-key vibes of Sorrento to the action-packed atmosphere of Rome, but the hotel the travel specialist picked was just perfect. It was 10 minutes from the Spanish Steps and she arranged a tour of the underground Colosseum. I learned so much about everything in that area. All the guides, the drivers, everything was magical. I would highly recommend this travel specialist and the travel company.

We had an incredible time in Italy! Thank you to Zicasso’s travel company! You thoughtfully planned our time in Sorrento and Rome to ensure we had the best experiences, while allowing for some free time to explore.
Our day-trip boat ride around Capri was beyond perfect. The boat captain and guide were very professional and truly charming. He gave us options on how to take in the sights and provided great commentary about the history and culture of the island. We selected to go to Marina Piccola for lunch, which was a great experience. The view from the restaurant was enchanting and the food was delicious. The grottos, Faraglioni rocks, and swimming in the Mediterranean were experiences of a lifetime.
We spent a day driving along the Amalfi Coast. We had a great driver on the mountainous winding roads. We visited charming Positano and beautiful Ravello. Our driver had great advice about where to visit and what to see. We enjoyed an amazing lunch, with a beautiful view, in Ravello.
On day three we enjoyed free time on the beach in the morning. Then we headed out for our limoncello experience! And it was a wonderful experience. The people we met in Schiazzano were very special. We loved the goal of the family businesses to keep and honor their traditions. Our pickup was prompt and we were served a drink at their general store. It is very touching that they began the tour in their church and shared the pride in their community. Then we were off up the hill, along narrow streets to the lemon groves. We learned about farming lemons from two enthusiastic young farmers, we smelled the lemon zest, and they served us fresh lemonade. Then we all got an exciting tuk-tuk ride up and down the very narrow streets to the hilltop farm, where we tasted olive oils, had a cheese-making demonstration, and tasted all the phases of cheese. Then we tasted the limoncello! We really enjoyed the spectacular view. Last, but certainly not least, we enjoyed making our own pizza using tomato sauce that was prepared by grandma that morning using freshly picked tomatoes. We tossed our pizza dough and used fresh mozzarella. The wood-fired oven cooked the pizzas perfectly. We enjoyed eating every bite. When we were planning our trip, I asked for limoncello tasting, but this experience was so much more!
We also had a wonderful time in Pompeii and at the Vatican, Colosseum, and Forum in Rome. All the history is so fascinating. There were many tourists in Pompeii and Rome, and all of our guides were terrific, energetic, and skilled at navigating the crowds.
All of the private transfers, train travel, and hotels were perfect. Thank you for your help and expertise with planning this once-in-a-lifetime trip!
We hope to travel to Italy in the future and would love to work with this travel company again to help us plan that next trip.

Our family of six just returned from the trip of a lifetime and we owe it all to our incredible Zicasso travel specialist. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, allowing us to simply relax, explore, and make unforgettable memories together.
Our journey began in Rome, where we stayed in beautiful hotels and were greeted by professional, reliable drivers who made every transfer seamless. From there, we traveled south by train to experience Mount Vesuvius, a truly breathtaking day that combined history, adventure, and spectacular views. Next came the Amalfi Coast, where we stayed in a stunning waterfront hotel. Waking up to the beauty of the Mediterranean each morning felt like something out of a dream. Every recommendation was perfect, from the accommodations to the transportation and, of course, the local restaurants.
One of the most meaningful parts of our journey was traveling to Moliterno, the hometown of my wife's family. Visiting the place where her family story began was an emotional and unforgettable experience. Our private driver made the journey comfortable and enjoyable, allowing us to fully appreciate the beautiful Italian countryside. From there, we continued to the ancient city of Matera, where we spent several incredible days exploring one of the most fascinating and beautiful places we've ever visited. Finally, we departed through Bari, enjoying one last glimpse of Italy's stunning Adriatic coast before heading home.
Throughout the entire trip, every hotel was exceptional, every driver was punctual and courteous, and every transition was effortless. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between iconic destinations, hidden gems, relaxation, and meaningful family experiences.
This wasn't just a vacation. It was a journey our family will treasure for the rest of our lives. We cannot thank our travel specialist enough for creating such a seamless, personalized, and unforgettable experience. If you're looking for someone who truly listens, plans with care, and delivers beyond expectations, look no further. We give our highest recommendation and are already dreaming about our next adventure together.

It was a wonderful trip for the three of us. Everything went smoothly, from the start to the end of the trip. Accommodations were as expected; boutique, culturally relevant, and centrally located. All service providers were knowledgeable, professional, fun, and great people.
It would've been great if the Alberobello tour was a bit longer; an hour felt quite rushed, even on the Segway. Also, the food tour at Polignano a Mare could've included more local specialties (e.g., burnt spaghetti, dessert) if the portions were smaller at each stop.

The logistics of getting us around southwest Italy to Capri, Positano, and Sorrento went so smoothly, thanks to the services provided by Zicasso's travel specialist and another travel specialist of Zicasso's travel company. We began and ended our trip by flying in and out of Naples.
The guides, drivers, and staff of the hotels they arranged for us could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We were particularly impressed by the warm reception and overall service we received at our hotel in Capri. We were treated like family. We plan to return to Capri in 2028 and stay at that same hotel.
In addition to the quality of the service we received overall, we found the scenery in each area to be beautiful, lush, and green. They arranged several moderate-level guided hikes for us, one in the vicinity of each city we visited, and the countryside in each place was gorgeous. Each of our guides was very friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the area we were hiking in.
Of course, the food everywhere we went was fantastic!
One unexpected bonus: At our hotel in Positano, completely serendipitously, I got to meet and chat with one of my favorite actors and his wife.
If I were to take the trip again, the one thing I would do differently would be to stay at a hotel other than our hotel in Naples the night prior to our departure flight back to the US. The room and services of the hotel staff were fine, but the hotel premises were in a hard-to-get-to location, on the second or third floor of an old building that did not have a reliable elevator. We had to drag our luggage up some long flights of stairs to get to the hotel lobby and rooms. There was also some false advertising by the hotel itself, in that the photo of the hotel we saw prior to our trip, which was represented as being the front of the hotel, was actually one side of the building that housed the hotel. The actual entrance of the building, which had to be used to get upstairs to the floor housing the hotel, was pretty sketchy-looking: dirty, dingy, and with that rickety-looking elevator we were afraid to use.
