Touching Down in Scotland the Brave
Your unique and unforgettable journey through Scotland’s greatest islands and best distilleries begins on the outskirts of its capital city, as you land today outside of enchanting Edinburgh. A private car leads you through the route formerly used by whisky smugglers and illicit distillers to the famous region of Speyside, the heart of Scotland’s whisky region. Here, you’ll find more single malt distilleries than anywhere else on the island, and your tour of this remarkable area begins at the Edradour Distillery, reputed to be the smallest in Scotland with a weekly production of just 18 casks of Scotch a week.
The tour will give you a glimpse at how a small-scale distiller goes about plying their trade, from smoking the peat to making the mash to turning it into the final product, and it concludes with two drams of Edradour’s single malt whisky and a nosing glass for you to enjoy them to the fullest. From here you climb the Highland ridges past the elegant white façade of Blair Castle, the ancestral home of Clan Murray and the site of the second-tallest tree in Great Britain, as well as the former bagpipes of Charles Edward Stuart, the Jacobean pretender to the English crown better known as Bonnie Prince Charlie. Then it’s on to the famous Dalwhinnie Distillery, the highest distillery in the country, set in the spectacular mountain scenery that rises more than 1,000 feet above sea level.
Following the fascinating tour of this one-of-a-kind facility, you’ll visit the world renowned Macallan Distillery, where an informative and engaging tour awaits. You’ll learn all about the history of this third-largest distillery, from its celebrated past to its promising future, and get a taste of one of its famous single malt. The evening is spent at a nearby hotel.

We recently returned from our tour of Scotland that we booked through Zicasso’s travel company, and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. Our travel agent created a wonderful itinerary, with some fantastic tours. Even though we had some mix-ups along the way, the travel agent and our driver quickly changed plans and got us to other great sites. In the end, everything worked out and the travel company made it right.
From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtfully organized, without ever being rigid or rushed. Our personal driver struck the perfect balance between being informative and personable, sharing rich historical context, local legends, and even a bit of humor that made long drives feel short. He made the trip so much fun and kept us laughing the entire trip. It never felt like a scripted experience; instead, it felt like traveling with someone who genuinely loves Scotland and wants you to love it too.
The itinerary was particularly well designed. We covered iconic highlights, from Edinburgh, through Glasgow, staying in Inverness, then ending the trip in Edinburgh in one of the most romantic and elegant places we have stayed.
Through our travels, we saw dramatic Highlands, serene lochs, and charming villages, while still having enough free time to explore on our own. I appreciated that the schedule didn’t feel overly packed; there was space to soak in the scenery, enjoy a quiet walk, or linger a bit longer in places that captured our attention.
The accommodations were another standout. Each place had its own character, ranging from cozy inns to elegant hotels, all clean and comfortable. It felt like an authentic experience rather than a generic one.
Transportation was smooth and reliable. Having our own personal driver made a big difference. It allowed for a more intimate, flexible experience and made it one of the best vacation experiences we have had.
If I had to offer one small suggestion, it would be to include slightly more time in some of the smaller towns—we often wished we could stay just a bit longer. That said, I understand the challenge of balancing such a rich itinerary.
Overall, this was a memorable and enriching trip, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this travel company to anyone looking to explore Scotland in a meaningful and well-organized way. I came home with not just photos, but a genuine appreciation for the country’s history, landscapes, and culture.

Zicasso's tour company created a very detailed travel plan, considered my input, and came up with a way to satisfy all the things we wanted to see, and added in some additional fun things to try!

Zicasso’s travel specialists were excellent to work with, as we adjusted our itinerary many times from initial contact to the time of travel. Our travel party significantly reduced in number and they worked with us to put together a great tour of Scotland (Edinburgh, including the castle, Royal Holyrood Palace, and a day trip to Stirling Castle with a great chauffeur/guide) and Ireland, arranging our flight to Dublin with transportation to Galway, then return via train for activities in Dublin. We had a wonderful trip and would highly recommend the travel company.

The trip was awesome, but the standout portion of the trip was our time with our chauffeur. He both knowledgeable and engaged the entire time, and just a pleasure to be around. Our accommodations were nice and our scheduled excursions in Edinburgh were great.
If I could offer one suggestion, and, in truth, it's difficult to even come up with one, we would have appreciated assistance with dinner reservations while we were in Edinburgh. Other Zicasso trips we've taken have included this service and we have found it very helpful.
I am looking forward to our next trip with this travel company! We've already made a list of what we'd like to see next time. Thank you so much for providing such an amazing experience. Looking forward to my next (my fifth) Zicasso trip!

We recently traveled to the UK using Zicasso’s travel specialist and we had the most amazing trip. Everything was planned out perfectly. From the pick-up at the airport to drop-off, we met friendly and interesting drivers who couldn’t wait to share their knowledge of London, York, and Edinburgh.
The guides we had for various excursions were fantastic. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. My husband is an amateur photographer and they were great with suggestions and very patient while he took his photos.
We had a small issue with a hotel room and it was resolved within hours by the travel specialist and her team, which made our stay a dream. She was also able to get us inside tickets to Stonehenge and, wow, it was magical.
Honestly, we were overwhelmed at first trying to plan this on our own, but working with the travel specialist was the best thing we did. We have wonderful memories of England and Scotland, and we are very grateful.
