Buenos Aires, Mendoza & Santiago Wine Tour

What to expect on this itinerary
From a bold and velvety Argentine Malbec to the distinct flavor and nose of a Chilean Cabernet, the wines of South America are as spectacular as the landscapes from which they come. With South America’s greatest cities a short plane ride away, you’ll understand why these are the regions that France and Napa don’t want you to discover.

Touching Down in South America
You arrive this morning on the outskirts of one of South America’s most cosmopolitan cities, beautiful and bright Buenos Aires, where the sophistication of Europe meets the passion of Latin America, where the streets hum with activity and the smells of a perfectly grilled steak fill your nose. A car will meet you at the airport to take you to your luxurious, comfortable hotel, where you can drop off your luggage and set out to explore everything city has to offer.
You’ll find the streets awash with color and full of life, with local Argentines ringing in the approach of night in fine fashion, preparing for a long and exciting evening. Dinner can be had at one of the city’s excellent parrillas, where the local beef offers a delicious complement to the rich and sumptuous notes of a glass of the country’s best Malbecs.

Detailed Description
South America is quickly becoming one of the finest destinations for wine tourism in the world, with beautiful scenery, unmatched weather, and locals who are as friendly as they are fiercely proud of their homeland. This 10-day Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Santiago wine tour gives you the chance to explore every square inch of Chile and Argentina’s up-and-coming wine regions. You will also discover the many other cultural hotspots that make these two countries some of the most popular tourist destinations around the globe.
Begin in Buenos Aires, the “Paris of South America,” where the tree-lined streets and high-end shopping of Palermo and Recoleta contrast brilliantly with the multicolored storefronts and vibrant scenes of La Boca. Then turn towards the ponderous Andes and the wonderful city of Mendoza, the largest wine-producing region in Latin America and home to some of the prettiest and most fascinating vineyards and wineries on the continent. Finish in Chile, where the streets of Santiago are filled with the dulcet tones issuing forth from the city’s many jazz clubs, and where the exquisite edifices of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar offer a spectacular front to the ceaseless activity of the mighty Pacific Ocean. And, of course, spend a day in Chile’s Central Valley, the newest hotbed for oenophiles, where the Cabernets and Chardonnays (as well as famous Chilean Carmeneres) rival those of Napa and France and where the scenery is unmatched by either.
This is a trip dedicated to your gourmet side, that part of you that loves nothing more than an exquisite meal and sumptuous wine, that enjoys the hustle and bustle of a big city as much as the calm and serenity of a countryside resort, and that is always looking for another adventure. The culture is captivating, the people personable, the wine wonderful and the scenery spectacular: with all this and more waiting for you in the heart of the Southern Cone, there’s never been a better time to visit.

Zicasso’s travel specialist and our guide took great care of us. We were two friends traveling through Chile and everything was managed with professionalism and thoughtful consideration. We had great hotels, great excursions, and on-time transfers booked. Everything ran smoothly, and when we had some travel delays, everything was taken care of for us. I would highly recommend this travel company and we had a fabulous trip to Chile.

Zicasso’s travel specialist planned the honeymoon of our dreams! She seamlessly scheduled our time in Buenos Aires and Patagonia.
Our excursions included a tango show, hikes, mini-trekking on Perito Moreno Glacier, and horseback riding on an estancia. Our lodging and transportation were so convenient.
We would not have been able to plan this ideal trip without her expertise. She kept in consistent contact with us prior to and throughout our stay, and provided us with great food recommendations and travel tips. We got the full Argentine experience and we would do it all over again!

We enjoyed the trip very much. We had planned to visit every place of interest to us in Patagonia on this trip, so it was quite a complex trip to arrange. Zicasso’s travel specialist did a great job overall. We had private guides and private cars for everything, so we could enjoy the experiences at our own pace and focus on the things that interested us.
We started in Buenos Aires, but our main focus was natural beauty. We spent a very interesting day and a half in the city, though. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the local history and the sites we visited. Next we went to Iguazú Falls, which was a spectacular experience. Our guide there was the only one who didn't seem as deep or as organized as all the others, but that was a minor issue. Although it is wickedly expensive, I would highly recommend that travelers stay in the one and only lodge inside the Iguazú Falls national park. We got a lot more out of our time there because we were right there at the park.
Next we went to the Lake District and spent memorable days on the water there; amazing scenery! We also saw condors during one of our day-long boat rides on the lake.
Next, we went to Calafate. Although we are not trekkers, the visits to the two main glaciers were unforgettable. The travel specialist had us in the VIP cabin for the day-long boat trip and we had a very knowledgeable guide for the visit to the Perito Moreno glacier.
We did the four-day cruise through Tierra del Fuego next, which I highly recommend, ending in Chile, where we spent two days at the Torres del Paine National Park, one by road in the park with a very knowledgeable private guide, and the second on a full-day lake tour with a marvelous lunch at a scenic ranch, with a close-up view to a glacier.

A special note to those with food allergies:
I have a lot of food allergies, so it is not easy for me to eat out, let alone out of the country. I let the travel specialist know ahead of time and all my tours, hotels, and guides knew I was coming and really helped to accommodate me. THANKS AGAIN!
