Luxury England Helicopter Tour and Land Excursion

Aerial view of London, England

What to expect on this itinerary

Eclectic, ancient, and endlessly dramatic, the British landscape offers a wonderful paradox: it is best understood through the intimacy of its soil and the grandeur of its skies. On this curated ten-day journey, you will piece together the puzzle of England and Scotland from three distinct perspectives: the winding country road, the rhythm of the rails, and the silence of the clouds.

This is not a rush across the map, but a slow ascent through the gears of the country. You will travel from the manicured, honey-hued villages of the South to the brooding, volcanic violets of the Scottish Highlands. While your days on the ground are spent immersed in five centuries of history—walking the cobblestones of Bath, York, and Edinburgh—your journey is punctuated by three exclusive private helicopter charters. You will rise above the stone giant of Windsor Castle, trace the spine of the Lake District’s mountains, and hunt for myths over the dark waters of Loch Ness. Resting in manor houses, lakeside lodges, and city icons, this is the definitive portrait of the British Isles: seen from the street, the suite, and the air.

London – A Relaxed Welcome to the Capital

Your arrival in the capital is designed to be gentle and grounding. Upon landing, a private chauffeur greets you for a smooth transfer to your luxury hotel suite, where the city’s skyline feels close enough to touch. Spend your first afternoon acclimating to the rhythm of the Thames; perhaps take a private, vintage boat cruise as the sun begins to dip, turning the water into a ribbon of liquid gold. The air here hums with a mix of history and modern energy, a perfect prologue to your journey.

Dinner is an elegant affair overlooking the water, where you can watch the city lights flicker on one by one. There is no rush tonight—only the comfort of Egyptian cotton sheets, the scent of fresh flowers in the lobby, and the anticipation of the skies you will conquer tomorrow.

Detailed Description

Experiencing England from air imbues a wonderful paradox. Each landscape and every angle appear very different; the rugged hills of the Yorkshire Dales, oak-lined rivers in the Cotswolds, vast castles, intriguing cities, cute villages, coastlines that rise with tumultuous tones. With six days of flying, there's thousands of postcard panoramas, each with few similarities to the last. Every angle seems to reflect the very definition of England. As you gaze from the large helicopter window, you can't help thinking, “Ah, this is England.” Only for the same words to be uttered five minutes later. The landscapes and sights are seductively diverse. But each feels iconic and quintessential as if every single vista feels ready to represent England in live high-definition.

With this unique itinerary, you spend six days flying. A private helicopter charter takes you the length and breadth of the country, crossing from London to Oxford to Bath, then to the Lake District and Scotland. Returning south, you chart an eastern path, soaring through Yorkshire towards Cambridge. The tour runs at a relaxed pace, with daily stops for you to explore on the ground before taking to the skies again. For example, you fly over London before taking in the enormity of Windsor Castle. Touch down on the ground, explore the state apartments and ancient turrets, then fly onwards to Oxfordshire. With a helicopter, the aerial sightseeing is complemented by the ease and convenience of travel. In just six days of flying, you can travel from London and the south to the remote landscapes of Loch Ness and Northern Scotland. And then back again. All at a very leisurely pace.

Sometimes it's the countryside that inspires. Great folds of green hills divided by stone walls; wisps of mist rising from hidden lakes; sheep scattered across precipitous coastal cliffs or the jagged rise of Scotland's peaks. At other times, it's the grandeur of England's history. Monumental castles standing unbowed, centuries-old cathedral spires that still dominate city skylines, magnificent Tudor homes surrounded by moats. And then there's the wealth of architecture, revealed as you soar above cities and admire their design. With a helicopter, you fly high enough to take in the scale. But low enough to take in all the intimate details. Gaze one way and rural England spills onto the horizon. Look the other and you clearly make out the turrets of an 11th-century castle.

The helicopter itinerary covers all of England and a large sweep of Scotland. It's customizable on the day, with the pilot able to subtly change the route to take in any special interests. The focus is always on ensuring you have the maximum opportunity to view the two countries from the air. Complementing the helicopter journeys are a handcrafted collection of England's finest accommodations. Picture rustic cottages, stately homes, and boutique guesthouses tucked away from the world.

Scotland Travel Review: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Loch Ness, Highlands, 9 Days

We recently returned from our tour of Scotland that we booked through Zicasso’s travel company, and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. Our travel agent created a wonderful itinerary, with some fantastic tours. Even though we had some mix-ups along the way, the travel agent and our driver quickly changed plans and got us to other great sites. In the end, everything worked out and the travel company made it right.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtfully organized, without ever being rigid or rushed. Our personal driver struck the perfect balance between being informative and personable, sharing rich historical context, local legends, and even a bit of humor that made long drives feel short. He made the trip so much fun and kept us laughing the entire trip. It never felt like a scripted experience; instead, it felt like traveling with someone who genuinely loves Scotland and wants you to love it too.

The itinerary was particularly well designed. We covered iconic highlights, from Edinburgh, through Glasgow, staying in Inverness, then ending the trip in Edinburgh in one of the most romantic and elegant places we have stayed.

Through our travels, we saw dramatic Highlands, serene lochs, and charming villages, while still having enough free time to explore on our own. I appreciated that the schedule didn’t feel overly packed; there was space to soak in the scenery, enjoy a quiet walk, or linger a bit longer in places that captured our attention.

The accommodations were another standout. Each place had its own character, ranging from cozy inns to elegant hotels, all clean and comfortable. It felt like an authentic experience rather than a generic one.

Transportation was smooth and reliable. Having our own personal driver made a big difference. It allowed for a more intimate, flexible experience and made it one of the best vacation experiences we have had.

If I had to offer one small suggestion, it would be to include slightly more time in some of the smaller towns—we often wished we could stay just a bit longer. That said, I understand the challenge of balancing such a rich itinerary.

Overall, this was a memorable and enriching trip, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this travel company to anyone looking to explore Scotland in a meaningful and well-organized way. I came home with not just photos, but a genuine appreciation for the country’s history, landscapes, and culture.

Zicasso's tour company created a very detailed travel plan, considered my input, and came up with a way to satisfy all the things we wanted to see, and added in some additional fun things to try!

Scotland, Ireland Tour Review: Edinburgh, Stirling, Dublin, Galway, Castles, 9 Days

Zicasso’s travel specialists were excellent to work with, as we adjusted our itinerary many times from initial contact to the time of travel. Our travel party significantly reduced in number and they worked with us to put together a great tour of Scotland (Edinburgh, including the castle, Royal Holyrood Palace, and a day trip to Stirling Castle with a great chauffeur/guide) and Ireland, arranging our flight to Dublin with transportation to Galway, then return via train for activities in Dublin. We had a wonderful trip and would highly recommend the travel company.

Scotland Tour Review: Edinburgh, Isle of Skye, 9 Days

The trip was awesome, but the standout portion of the trip was our time with our chauffeur. He both knowledgeable and engaged the entire time, and just a pleasure to be around. Our accommodations were nice and our scheduled excursions in Edinburgh were great.

If I could offer one suggestion, and, in truth, it's difficult to even come up with one, we would have appreciated assistance with dinner reservations while we were in Edinburgh. Other Zicasso trips we've taken have included this service and we have found it very helpful.

I am looking forward to our next trip with this travel company! We've already made a list of what we'd like to see next time. Thank you so much for providing such an amazing experience. Looking forward to my next (my fifth) Zicasso trip!

England, Scotland Vacation Review: London, York, Edinburgh, Stonehenge, 10 Nights

We recently traveled to the UK using Zicasso’s travel specialist and we had the most amazing trip. Everything was planned out perfectly. From the pick-up at the airport to drop-off, we met friendly and interesting drivers who couldn’t wait to share their knowledge of London, York, and Edinburgh.

The guides we had for various excursions were fantastic. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. My husband is an amateur photographer and they were great with suggestions and very patient while he took his photos.

We had a small issue with a hotel room and it was resolved within hours by the travel specialist and her team, which made our stay a dream. She was also able to get us inside tickets to Stonehenge and, wow, it was magical.

Honestly, we were overwhelmed at first trying to plan this on our own, but working with the travel specialist was the best thing we did. We have wonderful memories of England and Scotland, and we are very grateful.
