Monterosso – Arrive at Pisa Airport and Enjoy Dinner in Monterosso

The five towns of Cinque Terre create a charming enclave where the Maritime Alps meet the Mediterranean Sea. The villages each encircle a ravine outlet with pastel-painted homes and narrow cobblestone streets free of cars and enchantingly preserved in their isolation. Your flight will land at Cristoforo Colombo Airport in Genoa, and your private transfer will meet you at baggage claim to escort you alongside the coastline that encompasses the Italian Riviera. Villages with medieval castles rise out of the plateaus that overlook the water as fishing towns border golden sand beaches.

Quiet trails crisscross the hilltops that lead you to private gardens and lush vineyards that rush over the terraces. Once in Monterosso, you will settle in at your luxurious hotel set on a promontory that overlooks the water. Verdant olive trees and grape vines grow along the hillside as the pebbled beach arches near the opposite promontory.  The cliff is adorned with an early 20th-century sculpture that depicts a giant holding the base of what was once a villa on its back. Umbrellas shade the beach, and circuitous cobblestone lanes lead to small boutique shops with elegant window displays.

The aroma of the seaside blends with the herbaceous scent of fresh pesto sauce that drifts out of the cellar-like restaurants set amidst the narrowing streets. The tunnel at the back of the city leads to the contemporary district of town that overtakes the valley and foothills of the encompassing mountains. The medieval stones of Torre Aurora once protected the town from pirate attacks in the 16th century and remains a fixture on a small plateau that overlooks the layered shades of blue that span the Mediterranean to the horizon.

Italy Tour Review: 12 Days

It was the trip of a lifetime! Zicasso’s travel agent was absolutely incredible and took care of every detail. He went above and beyond in many ways, and didn't think twice about it. In the middle of the trip, we asked to switch our final destination. He didn't hesitate and had everything taken care of within two hours. I will definitely refer this travel company to anyone planning a trip to Italy.

Italy Tour Review: Sorrento, Venice, Colosseum, Blue Grotto, Gondola Ride, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel agent developed our itinerary to our specifications. She reached out right away and called if a follow-up was needed or to clarify something. Our trip went off without any problems. The itinerary was very clear, as was the timeline, trip summary, and tickets. If I had a question, she always responded.

We had one slight issue, which was quickly resolved and worked itself out. I communicated often with her throughout the trip and I always received a pleasant response. Our trip was designed to our needs. Our accommodations were wonderful! I would definitely recommend this travel company!

France, Italy, China, Japan Trip Review: Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Glass Blowing, Cultural Experiences, 16 Days

Zicasso’s travel company did such a great job putting the trip together. I was charged for an extra night at our hotel in Paris, but they are refunding that and the Cairo portion of the trip we had to cancel.

Our Paris tour guide was great and I’d recommend her to anyone. Our Rome tour guides were very good. Hong Kong was fine. Our Tokyo guide was wonderful.

Really, the only hiccup on the trip was our hotel in Hong Kong. The company that picked us up dropped us at one hotel, not the correct one. Thankfully, a couple of their bellhops walked us and all our luggage several blocks to the correct hotel. Our tour guide the next day also went to the wrong hotel, but we only lost about 45 minutes before we figured out the issue. If you use that hotel again, please make sure folks know which hotel is which.

The "Fast and Furious" car experience was OK; however, my grandson was so tired he slept through most of it. The chopstick-making was fun, as was the glass-blowing experience.

Italy Trip Review: Tuscany, Florence, Lucca, Cinque Terre, Chianti, Cooking Class, Biking, Hiking, Local Cuisine, 1 Week

Zicasso’s travel agent was accommodating and helpful for our trip to Tuscany. Since there were so many of us, people had different needs. She was able to accommodate our differences and work out plans the best she could. We enjoyed all of the selections that she gave us, especially the dinner in the Chianti vineyard. Everyone loved that. We definitely recommend this travel company!

We had an amazing trip of a lifetime to the Amalfi Coast and Rome. Zicasso’s travel specialist did a fantastic job getting to know me and finding out what my exact wants were. They kept tabs on us while we were traveling and even contacted us when our train was delayed over an hour. When we had an issue, there was always someone there to help resolve it.

Italy Anniversary Travel Review: Tuscany, Cooking Class, Vineyards, 12 Nights

Our anniversary trip to Italy, which Zicasso’s travel specialist helped me plan, was magical. She spaced out our activities, so we got to see the major sites, but didn't feel overbooked. She was extremely helpful days before the trip, making sure we had detailed instructions and vouchers, and was available on WhatsApp while we were traveling. She was super-responsive during the planning and while we were on the trip.
