Belfast – Checking into Ireland and a Black Taxi Tour of Belfast History
Belfast is a small city with a big personality. You’re transferred to a central hotel and will spend the afternoon in an iconic vehicle. The Harley-Davidson waits for tomorrow as today you explore in a Hackney black taxi, a local guide taking you to neighborhoods that became the front line during the 30-year Troubles. On one wall there’s a mural of a local hero. 500 meters away you find that hero was responsible for multiple deaths. A wall still divides these two sides of Belfast, and a black taxi tour takes you behind the scenes of what happened, who was involved, and why it never seems to go away. Eye-opening and evocative, it’s an experience synonymous with Northern Ireland’s capital.

Detailed Description
A road twists along dramatic cliffs, the roar of the bike meets the roar of Atlantic waves. It’s quiet out here, nothing but you and your bike. Descending past a deserted beach the road then turns inland, through a patchwork of impossible green hues. Castles dot the valleys, some of them in ruins. Dry stonewalls and black and white cows are ubiquitous over the next 30 minutes. But then the rural road turns some more and you’re back along the coast, cruising to a colorful old fishing village for the night. That’s the experience in Ireland anyway. For Scotland, replace those rugged coastlines with rugged highlands and mountain scenery, then add a handful of lochs, where peaks reflect off the glassy water surface.
Ireland and Scotland are unrivaled for a leisurely journey by motorbike. These countries are best experienced on a journey; rather than standout cities, these are countries made special by the landscapes. You need wheels to make the most of the travel experience. Roads are quiet and often empty, leading you to ruined castles and quiet gems hidden amid the valleys. There’s a sense of the great open expanse, generating that feeling of freedom synonymous with all the best motorcycle journeys. Yet Ireland and Scotland aren’t particularly big. You don’t need long and tiring days of riding. There isn’t a need to cover 500 empty miles so you can reach the next beautiful place. You just need to roll along and take it all in.
This is the ultimate bike tour of Ireland and Scotland, handcrafted for two weeks of travel and ten days of riding. You have a choice of Harley-Davidson bikes for the journey; other bikes can also be arranged although the cruiser styles of the Harleys are perfectly suited to the languorous days of riding. You’ll take the same bikes by ferry to Scotland, a short journey on the water meaning you don’t need to get accustomed to the quirks of two bikes. Accommodation is in a selection of upmarket hotels and offbeat charms, such as converted castles on the Irish interior.
First Ireland, a day in Belfast before the North Coast drive past Giants Causeway provides a wondrous introduction to Irish landscapes. Pass locations from the Game of Thrones before a relaxed afternoon around Ballintoy Harbour. Ride Ireland’s West Coast with a day going in and out of Connemara National Park. Next, you will drive through one of the world’s most scenic routes, Ireland’s southwestern Atlantic-facing coastline. Then it’s through patchwork fields to two nights in Dublin, with a day to rest the legs and explore the city with the Guinness Storehouse likely to be high on your list.
Drive north back to Belfast and the two-hour ferry, Loch Lomand a sublime destination for your first ride on Scottish soil. Take long turns around the lake and stop at viewpoints high away from it all, Scotland in quintessence stretching out below. You will drive through Glencoe and the Scottish Highlands to Inverness, a journey that epitomizes the idea of traveling slowly and taking your time. There is Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle on the route back south, then the superb Cairngorm mountain range to cross on route to Edinburgh. It’s here that you kick out the stand for a final time and relax; you’ve covered the best of Ireland’s and Scotland’s roads and have a full day in Edinburgh before starting the journey home.

We recently returned from our tour of Scotland that we booked through Zicasso’s travel company, and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. Our travel agent created a wonderful itinerary, with some fantastic tours. Even though we had some mix-ups along the way, the travel agent and our driver quickly changed plans and got us to other great sites. In the end, everything worked out and the travel company made it right.
From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtfully organized, without ever being rigid or rushed. Our personal driver struck the perfect balance between being informative and personable, sharing rich historical context, local legends, and even a bit of humor that made long drives feel short. He made the trip so much fun and kept us laughing the entire trip. It never felt like a scripted experience; instead, it felt like traveling with someone who genuinely loves Scotland and wants you to love it too.
The itinerary was particularly well designed. We covered iconic highlights, from Edinburgh, through Glasgow, staying in Inverness, then ending the trip in Edinburgh in one of the most romantic and elegant places we have stayed.
Through our travels, we saw dramatic Highlands, serene lochs, and charming villages, while still having enough free time to explore on our own. I appreciated that the schedule didn’t feel overly packed; there was space to soak in the scenery, enjoy a quiet walk, or linger a bit longer in places that captured our attention.
The accommodations were another standout. Each place had its own character, ranging from cozy inns to elegant hotels, all clean and comfortable. It felt like an authentic experience rather than a generic one.
Transportation was smooth and reliable. Having our own personal driver made a big difference. It allowed for a more intimate, flexible experience and made it one of the best vacation experiences we have had.
If I had to offer one small suggestion, it would be to include slightly more time in some of the smaller towns—we often wished we could stay just a bit longer. That said, I understand the challenge of balancing such a rich itinerary.
Overall, this was a memorable and enriching trip, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this travel company to anyone looking to explore Scotland in a meaningful and well-organized way. I came home with not just photos, but a genuine appreciation for the country’s history, landscapes, and culture.

Zicasso's tour company created a very detailed travel plan, considered my input, and came up with a way to satisfy all the things we wanted to see, and added in some additional fun things to try!

Zicasso’s travel specialist and his team were superb. They were able to craft the perfect trip for us. The hotels, destinations, and tours were all very well planned and arranged, and they went out of their way to arrange everything just as we requested.
I would recommend the travel company to everyone who wants polite, efficient service. The team was available and responded a couple of times quickly during the trip when we had questions. Overall, they made our trip one to remember for years to come. We were all very happy.

Zicasso’s travel specialists were excellent to work with, as we adjusted our itinerary many times from initial contact to the time of travel. Our travel party significantly reduced in number and they worked with us to put together a great tour of Scotland (Edinburgh, including the castle, Royal Holyrood Palace, and a day trip to Stirling Castle with a great chauffeur/guide) and Ireland, arranging our flight to Dublin with transportation to Galway, then return via train for activities in Dublin. We had a wonderful trip and would highly recommend the travel company.

The trip was awesome, but the standout portion of the trip was our time with our chauffeur. He both knowledgeable and engaged the entire time, and just a pleasure to be around. Our accommodations were nice and our scheduled excursions in Edinburgh were great.
If I could offer one suggestion, and, in truth, it's difficult to even come up with one, we would have appreciated assistance with dinner reservations while we were in Edinburgh. Other Zicasso trips we've taken have included this service and we have found it very helpful.
I am looking forward to our next trip with this travel company! We've already made a list of what we'd like to see next time. Thank you so much for providing such an amazing experience. Looking forward to my next (my fifth) Zicasso trip!

We recently traveled to the UK using Zicasso’s travel specialist and we had the most amazing trip. Everything was planned out perfectly. From the pick-up at the airport to drop-off, we met friendly and interesting drivers who couldn’t wait to share their knowledge of London, York, and Edinburgh.
The guides we had for various excursions were fantastic. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. My husband is an amateur photographer and they were great with suggestions and very patient while he took his photos.
We had a small issue with a hotel room and it was resolved within hours by the travel specialist and her team, which made our stay a dream. She was also able to get us inside tickets to Stonehenge and, wow, it was magical.
Honestly, we were overwhelmed at first trying to plan this on our own, but working with the travel specialist was the best thing we did. We have wonderful memories of England and Scotland, and we are very grateful.
